One of the main treatment strategies within the toolbox of tissue engineering (TE) includes the use of cell growth scaffolds that mimic the extracellular matrix, in order to assist in the regeneration of damaged or defective tissues. The goal of this project is to produce 3D cell growth scaffolds for TE, by utilizing 2D electrospun nanofiber mats, treated by thermally-induced self-agglomeration (TISA). Utilizing biodegradable polymers combined with inorganic components, we aim to produce biocompatible and bioactive sites that promote bone cell growth, proliferation and migration.
