Development and characterisation of antiviral, antimicrobial and antifungal coatings

The prevention of pathogenic air, water or textile contamination presents a major challenge worldwide nowadays. Novel approaches to effectively reduce or inhibit the colonization of microorganisms, and thereby respond to the market needs in terms of efficiency, durability and versatility, rely on the production of antifouling and bactericidal functional coatings on the relevant substrates in the clinical environment. The present study, conducted within the NanoBloc® project framework, seeks to advance the development of innovative nanocoatings with antiviral, antimicrobial and antifungal properties by using sustainable synthesis methods, such as electrophoretic deposition (EPD) or sol-gel coating method, on a variety of filter materials, textiles or high-traffic solid objects. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme under grant agreement nr. 101057597.
