One of the significant challenges for titanium-based materials intended for orthopedic applications is the poor osseointegration. Biomaterials-surface characteristics profoundly influence the interactions occurring at the interface between the implant and its adjacent tissues. Chitosan is a natural biopolymer with several biomedical applications because of its biocompatibility and antibacterial properties [1]. The combination of chitosan coatings with inorganic materials such as bioactive glass (BG) contributes to improving its properties, increasing its bioactive properties. This project aims to synthesize chitosan-MBGN composite onto titanium surfaces by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) to improve surface bioactive properties for biomedical applications.
